The Best Wine to Drink with a Sister
Updated: Dec 16, 2021
This year, I have maintained a diligent list of wines I have loved and why. And while I'm not an expert on wine, I have strong opinions about it anyway and would love to share them with you as I become more familiar with the subject at the expense of my liver.
This wine list was made for those who also love wine for the pure atmospheric pleasure it brings and the additional spice it provides at the table. Oh, and don't forget the laughs and purple lips and morning headaches- wine is truly the gift that keeps on giving.
Without further ado, I present the second edition of Poppy's Wine Picks for 2021.
The Best Wines to Drink with a Sister
A sister can be anyone that you speak freely with. It's a safe space where no emotions are withheld, no power dynamic exists, and where you'll likely end the night crying about how much you love one another. For me, those are my siblings, Danielle and Christina, and my best friend, Claudia.
These wines are all reds because they are best enjoyed in the evening, when both parties are ready to let the week go.
Beaujolais-Villages Combe aux Jacques 2020. A French import that is conveniently inexpensive, but shows you've got taste. Pairs perfectly with pizza that was delivered at midnight and just a tad bit cold, and a superhero movie you've already seen.
Decoy Cabernet. Unless you have a pro airrator, I recommend uncorking it and letting it sit out for 24 hours before consuming. The flavors become much richer and clearly defined after its breathed for a bit. And then, voila.
Kate Arnold Pinot Noir. My condolences to my Europeans friends-but I have to say, the best pinot noirs are found in Oregon. A Kate Arnold is best enjoyed with passionate discussions about the future and the cities we imagine ourselves living in.
